GRAEME OBREE WORLD HOUR RECORD 1993

Graeme Obree.

The "Old Faithful" at Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh.
Pic: Semi-detached's photostream

The "home made bike" that Graeme Obree won a variety
of records and championships on.
Pic: National Museum of Scotland.

I just got the chance to watch the movie this morning at 3am.
It is amazing to see the 'strength' of another person,
the built of " old faithful", the power-suit tripping dogs
trying to kill one man's determination but... erm...
ok i won't go into the details unless y'all want history to be
re-writtten by some dude who's suffering from a prolonged and
usually abnormal inability to obtain adequate sleep. Bad shit...

Watch the movie guys. If you haven't.

Other than that what can I say... RESPECT!

HI-YO SILVER!

Like Alex said... stop teasing. Well here it is. Nothing great
compared to what you guys have...

A snap right after some changes and
a couple of fixes
before the usual lonely ride out [hence the clean tyres]
Well it isn't now.

I wish I didn't have that chainring though.

WHACKY COMBOS

I HAD TO LET IT SLIP...

I posted earlier that Alan sent me a link regarding a 650 fork..
As usual, I was excited about it
and was going for the kill.
But somehow reality reminded me I have to sort my unfortunate
week I went through before I even decide to make the slightest move.
Cut to the chase... Earlier this week, my home got broken into.
Yea suxx right? Lost a fair share of stuffs...
so I have to fix-up what's broken. And that, meaning 'extra-cash'

This morning... I watched
the 650c Chromed Colnago go.
Painfully...

-®-

By the way dude, thanks for helping. Really appreciate it.
Just too bad I can't do anything about it.
Definitely the next one...
if there's one...

WE ALL LOVE TOOLS ???

We do.

SWEET LORD...

Buckley

Hetchins

1950's JRJ/Bob Jackson

On!
All from the same seller.

-®-

NITTO + SO'NICE'YO

Upgraded the stem to this. Darn my shaky hands.
Looks great from afar. Maybe I should get a proper lining pen.
Anyone knows where to get those? I'll try ebay first...

Welcome snake wrap.

I'm
counting the days for that Jackson frame.
I guess my bad boy will have to wait for awhile or should I just let it go?
Well if I ever decide to, I promise to post it up [few have been asking already]

I dug deep for that frame. And for a reason too. So I'll take some time to think
about it and at this very meantime I'm also very close to achieving
#3 - 'I AM ALMOST GREEDY'.
If you don't know what the hell I'm talking about... it's on the top right page
under 'Do You Own'. Hit a button, or maybe two, heck hit all if you're indecisive.

Also I'll be doing my lone-pitiful 'Saturday-Roll'em' ride. Woo-hoo!
I've acknowledge the fact [more like accepting it haha] that riding alone
is quite enjoyable and time is really on your side. No waiting for fellas and etc.
Anyways who else will be riding with me?
[to those who have just visited this blog for the first time or have missed out
some humble facts, I am a lone rider because there aren't any, ready or
I know of riders yet] Not because I've got sore-a** attitude.
I'm seriously a likeable bloke ;) yea right!]

Hassle-free ride unless I get a 'hissssssssssssssssssssssss......
It's the weekend dudes.

TRAILER

CLIQUE N' MOVE TRAILER from MACAFRAMA productions
Sorry guys I don't know how to embed this damn thing here.
I'm really low-tech. Somebody wanna teach me how?

-®-
ps: Track by The Rolling Stones. Nice.

MATTE BLACK + HOT PINK OR DARK GREY + RED! WHICH??

My first day back to work after a good break.
And already I feel tired. BUT! this dude made my day.
Yes y'all know him! The guy who owns, god knows how many
nice bikes and into vintage ones too. [Thanks man!]
Some grreat news. Read on...

With any luck these'll show up in about a month or two.

Then I'll have some pretty pics for all ya'll.
Until then here's what's we ordered:

All frames will be made from Reynolds 631,

have Dimpled ST's, Paul Dropouts and a Drilled front fork.
As for geometry, these will all have a more aggressive track stance.
Kinda like these...

50cm ST, 51cmTT
Creamy White frame w/Chocolate Brown panels and lug lining

51cm ST, 51.5 TT
Chocolate Brown frame with Creamy White panels and lug lining

52ct ST, 53cmTT
Matte Black with Hot Pink panels and lug lining
[Try to keep yer hands OFF on this ONE peeps!!! or we might end up like this]

54cm ST, 55cm TT

Metallic Purple with Electric Green panels and lug lining

56cm ST, 56cm TT
Light British Racing Green w/Cream panels and Light Blue lug lining
(kinda like my Bilenky minus it's curly brass-ness)

57cm ST, 56.5cm TT

Matte Dark Grey with Matte Red head panel and Dark Blue lug lining

So I am now deciding either

or this

Shipping will be massive this time as I'm thinking of requesting
for courier instead of USPS but I think I'd rather table more to save me
from the customs and their unreasonable delays
[can take up 2 months due to my experience on my current frame ]
and tax which will end up pretty much the same, if not more.

Woo-hoo!

Check
Bob Jackson frames info from CWMD.

Okay okay this has nothing to do with bikes. AT ALL!

Just thought a lil' change would do some good.

Okay that's my bulls***t.

SWEET MASI

Andy just sent me this.
A sweet Masi Pista yo! Belongs to Howy
[co-owner of] AMBUSH. Check details on PM.

He mentioned Howy when I was there but
I didn't get a chance to meet him. Ok maybe I did before
but I just can't recall. Sorry dude but I'll remember the next time
but don't bitch me if I remember your bike more. Haha...

Thanks Andy and get your ride soon, hopefully.

-®-

Awww............

Guys give Lady T a warm welcome. A first for Hong Kong
[
Her grin says it all] And... she's taken! So guys, no fooling around
Hehehe... Welcome Tiff and yeah, that pair of kicks. Good taste *cough* ;)

-®-

THE BOB JACKSON HUNT

Ok these frames are for sale...wait... SALE!
Here are some from Alan. Anyone who wants
these sweet English steel... dig here.

and I personally like this dull grey one. *hint* *hint*
It will be a challenge to find a proper secondary colour
to suit it without destroying the frame colour. I don't think
you'd want your parts to overshadow your classic frame right?
So no trashy colours hehe... nah it's your choice.
Anyways, I reckon a full-on matte black wheels for a start?

Maybe Andy will be able to fit this one... check 'em out?
Nice colour too.

Go with these frames. Seriously. Once it's fixed, meet your
mates up for a cuppa.

BIKES GOT US TALKING MORE CRAP

...in a good way.

Okay. Today is a great day after waited close to a week.
[Biz are at a pause during the Lunar New Year] caught up with vJ,
met Henry [owner of T.R.Bikes] Chris [partner of T.R.Bikes/Singapore Fixed Gear]
but didn't manage to meet Lynten though [the other half of T.R.Bikes].
Phew... guys hope i got it right. Anyways, the shitty thing is that I didn't
have my cam with me. So no poses to the post guys and bike scoops from the shop.

I must say what I saw was enough to make me salivate for awhile.
They have some hidden good vintage shit stored away. [though if you only
think FG is it well I am sorry but the parts were mostly for roadies]
I was lucky vJ took me to the booth at the corner and gave me
a glimpse of bike porn. [better than that latest all-star-sex-scandal-shit] Hehe...
Obviously they do have the frames I posted here a while ago.
But you've got to see the real thing. ILL... so if you're here in S'pore for
a visit, biz trip, blah blah... drop by and meet the guys and get sorted.

Lunch was good vJ. Chris, hopefully I'll be able to ride with the SFG crew
in near future [I'm warning you right now I can't booze if you guys are to
'cos if I do I'll probaly end up driving a car home instead] and Henry, thanks for the trade.

And Andy, if you're checking this blog out because you're soo freaking bored
I really suggest to get a custom-made soon that's true to your size. A Bob Jackson?
or maybe you're lucky a Ciocc in red? ;) Nice catching up with you guys.
Thanks Danny and congrats for your future plans.

Catch ya guys soon.

TRIKES AREN'T F####ING TOYS!!!

Here's an update from Vanilla. This Trike caught my attention
and I fell for it right away. It was built for Sacha's daughter some
two years ago and has got quite a coverage too.

An exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design
is featuring Sacha's show winning tricycle from 2006.

I wouldn't mind having this for my daughter too...

well, when and if I have one...but seriously I'd consider
it for my home furniture. A complete vintage look.

Signed poster for grabs on their site here

BIKE CAMPAIGN

DKNY pro-bike? 75 orange bike locked around NYC.
Thumbs up or a disrespect to the ghost bikes?
What's your opinion?

To me it's a good thing to get peeps to go around on bicycles.
But they need to look into the bigger picture. Like a safe orange
block to lock your bike w/o worrying what will happen while
having a nice warm curry. Poor guy...

BRICK LANE VANDALISM - PLEASE HELP

How can someone do this?
There's no way anyone can do this even he/she
land his/her bike on someone's property.
It looks like 'third-world-mind-alike' still exist over there.
What's up on Brick Lane? A stick up their ... ?
Totally screwed community?

Injustice was done. Read Phil's post:
London Fixed Gear and Single Speed
and take a look at what those mfs did to his bike.
Posted by CyclingWMD.

VINTAGE : EXCELSIOR ON THE BAY

Excelsior 1920s 10+hrs left.
I honestly don't know much about this bike and
its history [too lazy to scoop one out] except the claims
written by the seller but it sure looks damn fine to me and
it would be awesome to have this old steel restored.
I'd try to have a go if I have extras but no, I don't, [argh got to be discipline
for my English one] and I can only watch this bid and admire/curse the winner.

Well probably Alan will have a go? You're a Schwinn fan right?
If you're on it don't tell me.

Ok back to my spring cleaning...

-®-

UPDATE: WINNING BID US$201.48
Ok when I said I don't have extras to go for it
I didn't expect the final price to be so low.
US$201.48
