DE ROSA COLUMBUS

Ooo... this love... it is...
Another one

WTF IS THIS!?

Image: aernhardt @ ebay

Found this from the bay... very interesting...

The Roval hidden nipples utilize a three-piece design to improve nipple alignment,
which reduces spoke fatigue and improves wheel durability.
Our exclusive larger diameter nipple design distributes the loads across
a wider surface area for further improvements to strength and reliability
DT SPOKES Our custom DT Swiss stainless steel spokes never fail to
surpass the competition in both quality and endurance.
They're aerodynamically shaped with a thin profile for superior performance,
and the straight-pull design not only creates a uniquely shaped hub,
but improves reliability.

STEEL IS REAL

Here's what I have... just cop'd this. It was left unwanted
and hanging with a bunch of spoilt & unwanted frames.
Track bikes was 'in' say during the 80's to maybe early 90's
but it has over taken by MTBs. Who's complaining?
The shop owner have not a damnest clue at all. I even argued with him
that it comes with a 650 as this was built in the late 80's - early 90's.
[1990/91 i think] when pursuit was still legal on 650/700?

So I finally experienced going through and searching for NOS parts.
Literally. Went through 2 boxes of forks. From Italian to unbranded forks.
Steel to carbon. Cromoly to rust! Sorry no pics to show you guys
as I was so caught up with the whole process in the back room.

Anyways, this was my first option before I decided for Soma Delancey.
Finally it has become my second set up but will soon be my first bike.
I will take my precious time to build this beauty.
Let's say 6 - 8 months? maybe more. [ I've got bills to pay guys :) ]

As for the fork, if all things fail I will go custom.
The one you see on the pic is not the original but also a Ciocc...
damn can't remember the name... cromoly 700c definitely.

Like they always say... "My lost is your gain"
This is my reply... " Hell yea'!!!"

And finally mine...

Hope to update soon.

UPDATES
Got a reply from Stephen, Bilenky.
Yes they can custom a fork for me,
yes
they accept international orders
but it's kinda steep... $250 + finishing [paint or plated]
shipping not included yet.
But he did mention that he will be checking some
Vitus 650s fork.

Hopeful for choices.

p/s: Thanks! Alan for the hook up.

SUNDAY RAIN DAY

Upside: Managed only 20 minutes ride.

Downside: Then started pouring.
Anyways, I need to get my crank fixed. Loose round again.
No uphill and skids. Or any real pressure. Brought my 15mm but left 14mm.

Update: Tightened with a 14 :) but still pouring.

IF IT'S ONLY THE OTHER WAY ROUND

BC2003 Matte blacko and a celeste 51 complete bike w/o pedals.
Where's my luck?

Some other finds on the bay

Cinelli. Both from the same seller.

PURSUIT

GeekHouse

This one was sold for $780 on the bay. Frame, fork and headset.
Since I can't get the Bianchi Concept matte black and Eric is looking
as well. Both of us have thought of getting used pursuit frames instead.
Built everything on our own. Well almost.
Need to do more research but I know there's one here waiting for me.
Anyone have any 'pursuit set up' riding experience on the street?
We'll be glad if you can give us a comment, opinion or two.

Hope to update soon on this.

F! F! F!

I love the detail. The Golden Bell.
I HEART THIS BIKE! yes, I HEART.

JUST BIKES

Freshly painted on the streets. When I saw the guy
shaking the spray paint like a volcano about to erupt,
I made a run across the street and pulled out my camera.
But he was faster than I was. Obviously.
He disappeared in the crowd and to my suspicion
[or maybe his as well] thought I was some kinda freak or
maybe some journalist trying to catch him red handed
for destroying government property.

Well I was trying to snap him in action for a good purpose.
As you can see, there are marks of paint on the floor. Wet!
Too bad that I couldn't ask him if the colourway was inspired
by a Bianchi Concept?

A Phoenix with new blue coat. Awesome.

Pops on wheels. You can see them everywhere in HK.
Run down and worn but still pedalling.
I personally feel HK streets is nice for riding.

And this is my favourite snap of the Phoenix.

MEET UPS - HKF

Back from break. HK was awesome and will always be.
Last trip was 5 yrs ago. It hasn't changed as much but
definitely not complaining. Love the food. The city buzz.
Anyways, we finally met up on the last day of my HK trip.
Calvin [cap] and Tiffany [Cal's other half and
thanks for snapping this pic ]
More like a Hakka Clan meeting... :)

The goodies. MASH booklet-DVD.
Thanks guys for the stickers.

MASH even had skid patches on the cover.
Brilliant cover.
